Amelia Island 2013

If it’s March, you can pretty much be guaranteed that the vintage car world is descending on Amelia Island, Florida. As always, we attended this year and what a fantastic weekend. RM and Gooding both had great auction sales with some rare and fantastic cars changing hands. We bid on a super rare Allard K3, but someone else’s pockets were deeper than ours!

Of course the star of the weekend is the Concours d’Elegance on Sunday. Amelia founder Bill Warner always seems to come up with some great stuff and this year was no exception. Whether it was having the beloved Sam Posey as the honoree, or having the legendary Joe Bortz show off a couple of his rescued Detroit concept cars of the 1950’s, or having a class called “What Were They Thinking” featuring some of the weirdest cars you’ve ever laid eyes on…  and a special class for one-off Cadillacs, another dedicated to Ford GT40’s and yet another to Miller race cars of the 1920’s and 30’s.

Every year is fun, every year is special and we’re already looking forward to seeing what Bill Warner cooks up for next year.
