1977 Ferrari 400GT

Details

Introduced at the 1976 Paris Motor Show as Ferrari’s replacement for the 365GT4, the 400GT was very well received indeed. The Pininfarina body design was sleek, performance was impressive with an upgraded 4.8 litre Columbo engine, putting out 340 horsepower. And the 2+2 cabin design provided ample and comfortable seating, perfect for high speed (0-60 in seven seconds!) cruising around Europe. This lovely example is the most sought-after configuration by collectors as it is one of only 147 400GT’s built with Weber carburation and a 5-Speed manual transmission. (The 400i with fuel injection came out in 1979).

According to Marcel Massini, the car was originally delivered in Oro Kelso (Gold Metallic), one of only two manual transmission cars delivered in that color. The color was changed to black decades ago, yet the beige interior is original and is in remarkably good condition.

Delivered new in 1977 to the official Ferrari importer in Switzerland, records show that the car was imported to the U.S. around 1980. Its entire history is not known in detail, but the car has clearly been very well taken care of its whole life. Recently it was driven from eastern Connecticut to northern Vermont and back without any issues. Quite understandable actually given the level of service and care the car has received from the current owner as well as the prior owner. Their combined service receipts over the last many years exceeds $90,000. Original mileage is 83,000 kilometers (49,000 miles) This great and beloved car is absolutely turn key and ready for touring. Asking $125,000.
