1971 Mercedes 280SE 3.5 Coupe
Details
This spectacular and incredibly original 3.5 Sunroof Coupe was delivered new by World Wide Motors in Indianapolis, Indiana to Dr. John Lukemeyer, who lived just a couple of hours away in Jasper, Indiana. He took delivery on August 13, 1971. The factory original Mercedes service book shows that World Wide meticulously maintained the car for him over the next 23 years. The second owner was also from Indiana, Mr. John Walace. It appears that he bought the car from Dr. Lukemeyer in 1994 and kept it until we acquired it in 2023. With the exception of one repaint in the original color by master Mercedes restorer Scott Melnick of Auto Engineering in Calabassas, Ca, the car is 100% original with just 71,500 miles from new. Finished in factory original Moss Green Metallic, the car was optioned with factory air conditioning and electric sunroof and windows. The original interior is Cognac leather, and the driver’s seat shows the typical signs of wear that an original 53 year old car would show. Other than that, the rest of the interior: headliner, dash wood and leather, rear deck leather, center console, carpets, door panels, etc… all are in the best original condition we have ever seen on a 3.5 Coupe. The car comes with all of it’s original factory manuals, tools, jack and spare. It still has its original Becker Europa radio. The body is razor straight and rust free. The paint is beyond spectacular. Air conditioning blows ice cold. The sunroof and electric windows function perfectly. If you’ve been looking for a fantastic, turn key 3.5 Coupe, look no further. With a very recent 3.5 Coupe sale of a comparable car for $240,000, we believe this car represents exception value at $195,000. Please inquire for further details.
