1965 Porsche 911

Sold

Details

We are thrilled to be able to offer a very special Porsche. This wonderful and very rare car is one of the very first 911’s produced, known as the “300 Series” cars that were built in 1964 and 1965. These very early cars are truly the holy grail for Porsche collectors. Chassis number 300357 (the 357th Porsche 911 built) is a full matching numbers car and still wears its original paint color of Champagne Yellow (6405). (The interior color was delivered in green leatherette with corduroy inserts and was changed to black leatherette many years ago). Features include a wood trimmed dash and a wood steering wheel, yellow tinted Hella fog lights, a “five stud” dash, a talbot style side view mirror, a Blaupunkt radio and a factory correct Webasto gas heater. Currently the car is in the hands of a gentleman who has owned dozens of early Porsches, both 911 and 356. His love affair with the brand began when he became a Porsche dealer in 1973, a position he proudly continued for 27 years. Suffice to say, this guy knows Porsches! He has three early examples at the moment and it’s time to thin the herd just a bit. The most recent rebuild of the numbers matching engine was in 2021 and included: timing chain, chain tensioners, pistons, cylinders, camshaft, connecting rods, exhaust valves, valve guides. Mileage since the rebuild is roughly 4500. This is a great car and it is beautifully sorted for real driving. Detailed photos of the engine rebuild process and of the underside of the car are available upon request. Included in the sale is the history file, owner’s manual, a proper tool kit and the factory original date stamped wheels. This car’s authenticity and mechanical integrity will stand up to rigorous scrutiny. Asking $235,000/SOLD
