1950 MGTD

Details

MGTD’s are not super rare or particularly collectible, but they sure are a ton of fun to drive. Because they have never been worth a huge amount of money, typically when TD’s get restored owners are cutting corners so as not to have more invested in the car than it’s worth. Well, behold one of the most beautifully, no expense spared restored TD’s we’ve ever seen. This fully documented restoration cost more than double the car’s value, and it shows. During the restoration some very desirable upgrades were incorporated: 1 ½” SU carburetors from a MKII TD were installed adding much needed horsepower and a breather system similar to a MGTF with pancake air filters was installed.

We believe that the car has had just two owners from new. Since the restoration, the car has been driven about 6500 miles, so it’s not just a pretty face. It is beautifully sorted and is truly turn-key and ready today for spirited touring. And as a testament to the quality of the restoration, the car received the Chairman’s Choice Award at the Lime Rock Park Concours in 2023. Asking $39,500.
