Pebble Beach

A very rare thing happened a few years back at Pebble Beach: Woodie wagons used to be the domain of surfer dudes and only the most eccentric collectors. How things have changed. At the 2003 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance a special class was created for Woodies and Nick Alexander, friend and customer of deGarmo Ltd., won first and second in class with his amazing cars. The Marmon Herrington four wheel drive pictured here is one of only two left in existence and it was restored by Nick’s own staff of woodie craftsmen. Nick bought his first woodie from us about 10 years ago, a 1947 Sportsman. Since then he has assembled the most complete collection of Ford and Mercury woodies in the world. Woodies have finally entered the mainstream of collectibles, indeed, values have doubled in the last 3 years. Not only are they an essentials iconic piece of American culture, they’re just totally bitchin’.
